Well, I sure that we’ll all agree that 2020 has been terrible. We’ve all been affected in various ways. The hospitality/tourism sector has of course been hit severely. It’s been so sad to see numerous independents such as Madhatters (renowned for its scrummy cupcakes) and Fodder (Scouse food) disappear from our city centres and no longer feature on our Food Walking Tours.
Whilst my business has been hit dramatically, the ‘staycation’ factor had some positive impact on my tours business, and it was lovely to welcome guests from all over the UK on my food walking tours during the summer months. It was also exciting to see a number of independents expand or pivot their business operations, including Stile Napoletano, Vin Santo and Hanky Panky
I hope that during 2021 and beyond, that more tour guests will be able to experience the food tours in both Chester and Liverpool. Both cities have a fantastic array of food/drink independents and it’s a real privilege for me to be able to ‘showcase’ not just the AMAZING food/drink but also the passion and personalities of the incredible independent entrepreneurs that I partner with. Highlighting, the ‘off the beaten track’ landmarks and venues that one normally misses or simply walks by, is also great.
As time moves on, I’m also confident that tour group sizes will increase and in turn the opportunity for corporate tours to restart.
In the meantime, I’d like to thank all of my tour guests and of course all of the businesses I partner with- here’s to a healthier, prosperous New Year and 2021!
