If you join a Taste of Chester Food Walking Tour you get to meet so many fab independents – 7 in fact! They include Giacomo Guido (owner of Stile Napoletano)
Located in the bustling food court of Chester Market Hall, Stile Napoletano is the brainchild of award-winning pizza chef Giacomo Guido. Giacomo left his home on the island of Ischia, near Naples and moved to London where he was nominated for the best pizza in London in 2015 (youngandfoodish.com) and his pizza was included in Daniel Young’s ‘Where to Eat Pizza’ in 2016. 2017 brought more success when Giacomo won the London Pizza Festival. After visiting Chester, Giacomo fell in love with the city and decided to leave his successful career in London behind. Stile Napoletano was opened in March 2018 where he serves tasty and light Neapolitan style pizzas using pure, organic ingredients from Italy alongside quality local produce.
Tell us about your business concept:
As you know our concept is authentic Neapolitan pizza with the idea of using the best Italian products for our pizzas, and serving a light and digestible pizza by making a dough that rises at least 24 to 48 hours.
What you enjoy most about running your business:
What I love about my job is to look at the happy faces of the people who sit at our tables, maybe make them try products they have never tried in their life, and tell the story behind every single product, because we use products grown by small producers – not industrial products, so behind all our products there is a family tradition .
Your thoughts on the local independent food/drink scene:
About local businesses I think in the last few years Chester has seen the opening of excellent restaurants ( as Covino , Flower Cup , Chalk ) which have joined others ( as Joseph Benjamin , Sticky Walnut , Chefs Table or cafes like Jaunty Goat ) and that have been an icon of the city for years.
Your customers favourite food served at Stile Napoletano:
Our customers favorite dish is of course the authentic margherita , or our nduja with spicy spreadable meat from Calabria , Parmigiana with baked aubergines, or our crudo and tartufo with Parma ham and truffle oil .
